Cherry Juice Health Benefits

Cherries are loaded with important nutrients. You would have to eat a whole bag of them to get all the nutrition you could start drinking the juice. It is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory .

Cherry juice contains only 137 calories per serving in 1 cup, and is good for cancer prevention, heart health, as an anti-inflammatory agent and provides protection against a number of other conditions.

AS ANTHOCYANINS

Cherries are red fruits. Red fruits and vegetables are rich in anthocyanins, a class of phyto antioxidant chemical (disease-fighting agent found in foods of plant origin). Other fruits and vegetables in this class include: raspberries, strawberries, beets, cranberries, apples, red onions, beans and red beans. The phytochemicals give fruits and vegetables vivid and colorful tones. Anthocyanins, in particular, encourage healthy circulation, ensure the proper functioning of nerves and offer anticancer properties.

BENEFITS ANTIOXIDANTS

A study published in August 2009, in a local newspaper of the United States. Investigated that the consumption of foods rich in anthocyanins is associated with improved health, in particular: the consumption of cherry juice (rich in anthocyanins) improves the ability of the elderly to withstand oxidative damage.

Oxidative damage can lead to an increase in the rate of death and illness in the elderly, to have more chances to cause infections and diseases such as atherosclerosis, cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer's disease. The study found that consumption of cranberry juice, for seniors provide greater protection against the development of heart disease, cancer and related cognitive decline with age.

PROTECTION CANCER

Cancer cells, harmful substances in the air, water and food, can damage body cells, causing changes that can lead to cancer. Cherry juice offers more than anthocyanins. It is loaded with three disease-fighting chemicals, which can be beneficial to lock the cell transformation (which often leads to cancer).

These powerful chemicals include perillyl, limonene and ellagic acid. The peel of citrus fruits offer limonene and fruits offer ellagic acid, but only the cherries offer all three chemicals. They are particularly protective against cancers of the breast, lung, liver and skin.

LOWERS CHOLESTEROL

Tart Cherry juice contains one of the most powerful antioxidants that exist, quercetin. Among other functions, quercetin prevents oxidative damage caused by free radicals from damaging low-density lipoprotein ("bad" cholesterol). When LDL is oxidized, is more likely to adhere to the walls of arteries, forming plaques that contributes to a heart attack or stroke. Quercetin is also an anti-inflammatory agent, which is beneficial for relieving symptoms of asthma and other respiratory diseases.

PROTECTION AGAINST PAIN MUSCLE

We tested the effectiveness of a mixture of cherry juice in the prevention of symptoms of muscle injury in 14 male university students. The dosage was 12 mg of a mixture of cherry juice or a placebo twice daily for eight days. The pain and loss of strength were significantly lower after these cherry juice dosages. Likewise, cherry juice can provide relief drop (a painful form of arthritis). It can relieve pain because of their potent anti-inflammatory properties.

HOW TO MAKE CHERRY JUICE

Ingredients:

  • 450 g sour cherries
  • Sugar 900 g
  • 275 ml water
  • Several bottles of water with gas

Preparation:

  • Wash and remove the core of all the cherries. Place the clean cherries and sugar in a saucepan. Cover it and leave it at room temperature for two hours.
  • Add water. Stir until the sugar has dissolved in the mixture.
  • Take the pan to heat and boil the mixture. After boiling for fifteen minutes, strain the mixture and place the liquid part in another pan. Be sure to extract all the juice from the cherries before discarding them.
  • When you continue to boil the liquid you just remove the solid remains of cherries, it will begin to thicken. Continue boiling until it reaches the consistency of maple syrup. Once you have thickened, remove the pan from the heat and leave it at room temperature to cool. When cool, transfer it to a closed container and store in the refrigerator.
  • This syrup is the base of your cherry juice. The final product is formed of one or two spoonfuls of it in a glass of sparkling water. You may need to try several different amounts of water and syrup, but once you start experimenting, it's easy to adjust the quantities to the taste of each person.
